Having an affinity for manmade materials coupled with an awareness of our poor physical relationship to the items we produce, Baker presents an installation featuring a series of twelve, small to large scale, highly reflective spherical sculptures fashioned from compact discs.

Witschl's show entitled Getting Anxious is described as being sinister and ominous. This body of paintings explores the expression of anxiety within the context of contemporary Surrealism and "experimenting with the psychological limbo of... that movement."

"Travelling Within Dreams", paintings by Ricardo Copado in Gallery A. Copado's surreal scenes are inspired by nature and other realistic elements taken to the limits of fantasy, resulting in work that presents unexpected juxtapositions to capture the viewer's interest.
In Gallery B, "body/language", is a series of large scale drawings by Daniel Evans, an ongoing series exploring the archetypal story of star-crossed lovers. The work uses the sensuality of figure drawing to investigate narrative themes of passion, loss, transgression, and dependence.

Is Canada Ignoring Obesity in Men?

Wednesday, February 15, 2012
5:00 pm to 7:00 pm

This event is free, but space is limited.
Please email to RSVP

More men than women live with excess weight in Canada, and yet when we hear statistics about rising obesity levels these gender trends are often overlooked. Why are men affected by obesity more than women, and why do we talk about it less? Is biology to blame? As a society, are we more willing to accept obesity in men? And are they getting the help they need?

Join moderator Mark Connolly of CBC News Edmonton and a panel comprised of some of Canada’s top researchers and health professionals, together with a patient sharing his experience, to discuss what’s driving the issue, and what can be done about it.

Featured speakers
Dr. Kim Raine, Professor, School of Public Health, University of Alberta
Dr. Daniel Birch, Professor, Department of Surgery, University of Alberta
J. Jacque E. Lovely, Clinical Nurse Specialist, Alberta Health Services Provincial Bariatric Resource Team
Marty Enokson, Patient and advocate

Christmas elves have taken over Meals on Wheels. Busy, hard working and eager to help, Christmas elves are raising funds, working in the kitchen, collecting gifts and wrapping them up. We want you to be one of them!

Christmas in the Kitchen
If you're looking for a unique activity during the Christmas season, spend some time chopping, baking and packaging meals in our kitchen. Put together a team to work in our kitchen for a couple of hours to help prepare the meals we serve our clients. This is a great opportunity to get involved in the community. Bring a donation to Meals on Wheels and a team of up to ten people to make a difference in people’s lives. Shifts are Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to noon. *Note: Groups over ten people will be split between two days.

Christmas Gift Drive
Meals on Wheels plans to make the Christmas season extra special for seniors in Edmonton by accepting unwrapped, new gifts that will be distributed during the holiday season. Put up posters at work and collect gifts. To help with gift giving ideas,
see our website for a list of gift items that we are collecting this year. We will provide a collection box for your worksite so everyone can get involved.
