To commemorate the anniversary of Terry’s Marathon of Hope, every school in Canada is invited to participate in the Terry Fox National School Run Day. This event will be held simultaneously at schools large and small from coast-to-coast. With millions of schools participating, this could one of the largest single-day events in Canadian history and will allow our youth to show all of Canada the power they have to help others.

Join the shepherds as they tend their flocks, then enter through the city gates into the bustling markets of Bethlehem, past the synagogue to the stable to meet Mary, Joseph and the baby Jesus.

On December 12 from 1 pm – 3 pm, Meals on Wheels will host a gift wrapping open house where you can be part of the Christmas Elves gift line. Here, you will bag and decorate all the donated gifts for people in your community. Wrapped gifts and goodies will then be delivered by volunteers between December 14 and Christmas Day. Limited space is available.

If you're looking for a unique activity during the Christmas season, spend some time chopping, baking and packaging meals in our kitchen. Put together a team to work in our kitchen for a couple of hours to help prepare the meals we serve our clients. This is a great opportunity to get involved in the community. Bring a donation to Meals on Wheels and a team of up to ten people to make a difference in people’s lives. Shifts are Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to noon. *Note: Groups over ten people will be split between two days.

Meals on Wheels plans to make the Christmas season extra special for seniors in Edmonton by accepting unwrapped, new gifts that will be distributed during the holiday season. Put up posters at work and collect gifts. To help with gift giving ideas,
see our website for a list of gift items that we are collecting this year. We will provide a collection box for your worksite so everyone can get involved.

Over three weeks, thousands of visitors stroll Candy Cane Lane, admiring the imaginative and often quirky decorations. Sleigh rides along the street are also available. Donations to the Edmonton Food Bank are much appreciated at the on-site collection points.
