The Provincial Museum of Alberta opened in 1967 with a functional and elegant design. In 2005 funding was announced for a renewed museum with a renewed vision. And on the occasion of her visit to Alberta on May 24, 2005 to celebrate the Centennial, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II graciously consented to assign the designation “Royal” to the Museum, which shall henceforth be known as Royal Alberta Museum. Open daily 9 am - 5 pm. Closed December 24 and 25.
Visual Arts Alberta Association is a non-profit Provincial Arts Service Organization (PASO) for the visual arts which celebrates, supports and develops Alberta's visual culture. The gallery hosts an ongoing exhibition schedule. Mon to Fri 10 am - 4 pm.
Located in the historic Banque d'Hochelaga in St. Albert, the gallery features contemporary art, usually by Alberta artists, who show their painting, sculpture, video, quilts, glass and ceramics at both the provincial and national level. Monthly exhibitions, adult lectures and workshops, 'Looking at Art' school tours, art rental and sales plus a gallery gift shop. Tues to Sat 10 am - 5 pm, Thur till 8 pm.
The University of Alberta Museums is a unique network of 35 diverse museums and collections totaling more than 17 million objects located throughout campus. Facilities include museums, galleries and exhibition spaces; collections in classrooms and laboratories; works of art featured in University buildings and on the grounds. Accessible during public hours, pre-booked visits and annual public programs.
The gallery is a place for patients, visitors, staff and the public to enjoy art, cultural exhibits and quiet music. It offers a relaxing and engaging environment on the main floor where patients, families and friends can meet, talk, enjoy art and relax. Near 112 St east side entrance. A not-for-profit gallery sponsored by the Friends of University Hospital. Mon to Fri 10 am - 8 pm, Sat & Sun 1 pm - 8 pm.
The PAA is responsible for the "acquisition, preservation, publication and public exhibition of ...materials regardless of physical form, the preservation of which is in the public’s interest." Regular exhibitions display archival material or duplications of archival material; archival material used in researching and developing the exhibit; and subjects of Alberta's history. Tues to Sat 9 am - 4:30 pm.
Founded in 1924, the Art Gallery of Alberta is an 85,000 square foot premier presentation venue for international and Canadian art, education and scholarship. The AGA is a centre of excellence for the visual arts in Western Canada, expressing the creative spirit of Alberta and connecting people, art and ideas. Tues to Fri 11 am - 7 pm, Sat & Sun 10 am - 5 pm.
Located in West Edmonton Mall. Limited edition prints, sculptures, originals and museum custom framing. Artists include Robert Bateman, Bev Doolittle, Thomas Kinkade, etc.
The gallery is associated with the NHCA Artist Collective. Mon to Fri 9:30 am - 2:30 pm, plus Tues till 4 pm and Thurs till 8 pm. Hours may vary with different exhibitions.

The Works Gallery operates as part of The Works International Visual Arts Society’s year-round educational and community outreach programs. The gallery offers the public, barrier-free opportunities to view art and design by emerging artists, students and professional artists as well as arts organizations. Mon to Fri noon - 5 pm.
Alberta’s only public gallery dedicated to fine craft presents four exhibitions in the main gallery each year. The Discovery Gallery features new works by ACC members. The gallery shop offers contemporary and traditional fine crafts including pottery, blown glass, jewelry, woven and quilted fabrics, home accessories, furniture and much more. All are hand-made by Alberta and Canadian craft artists. Mon to Sat 10 am - 5 pm; closed Sun.
Founded in 1924, The Edmonton Art Gallery is the only museum in Alberta
devoted strictly to the exhibition and preservation of art and visual
culture. In conjunction with a full and varied exhibition schedule, the
Gallery provides lectures, talks and seminars on art and art-related issues. Tues to Fri 10:30 am - 5 pm, Thurs till 8 pm, Sat, Sun 11 am - 5 pm, closed holidays.
The gallery works to make the community aware of the importance of visual arts through demonstrations, workshops, exhibitions and tours -- and encourages the creativity of Francophone artists
and artisans of Alberta by making their interrelations easier, by promoting their artwork and assuring them a greater visibility. Mon to Fri 9 am - 6 pm, Sat 10 am - 5 pm.
The Faculty of Extension, University of Alberta operates this gallery. It is a teaching gallery where exhibitors include Extension’s Fine Arts graduating students, instructors, alumni and special guests. Consult website for current exhibitions. (Sep 1 - Apr 31) Mon to Thur 8:30 am - 8 pm, Fri till 4:30 pm, Sat 9 am - noon. (May 1 - Aug. 31) Mon to Fri 8 am - 4 pm.
