Alberta Railway Museum + My Favorites
More than one hundred years of railroading in the west are reflected in over 50 major artifacts ranging from freight equipment,passenger cars and locomotives to an authentic railway station. Displays illustrate the Morse telegraph system, maintenance-of-way equipment and a work train. On Canadian holiday long-weekends you are invited to hop aboard a steam or diesel train for a nostalgic trip. Operating hours: 10am to 5pm, 7 days a week, from Victoria Day weekend in May until Labor Day weekend in September. C & E (1891) Railway Museum + My Favorites
Visitors to the museum can relive those first exciting days when the steam engines first arrived in Strathcona, bringing thousands of settlers to the area. The museum is a replica of the original station which served the community from 1891-1907 and features numerous railway and station artifacts as well as an extensive historic photograph collection. John Walter Museum + My Favorites
The three original homes of early Edmonton entrepreneur John Walter are on display, featuring a number of free Sunday activities such as old-fashioned games, bread-making on a woodstove, and fun, games and lemonade. Edmonton Public Schools Archives and Museum + My Favorites
Housed in historic McKay Avenue School, a Provincial Historic Resource and the site of the first session of the Alberta Legislature in 1906, the museum includes a 1920s classroom, a 1950s classroom and the restored legislative Chamber.
