Beyond Edmonton

Nature abounds at Elk Island National Park,
Located in Edmonton's Capital Region.
Edmonton's Capital Region is full of exciting and informative attractions ready to meet your tour, meeting and convention needs. Within a short drive of the city centre, you'll find the nearby cities of Fort Saskatchewan, Leduc, Spruce Grove and St. Albert, the towns of Beaumont, Bon Accord, Calmar, Devon, Gibbons, Morinville, Redwater, Stony Plain and Legal, the villages of New Sarepta and Wabamun, as well as Sherwood Park, the world's biggest hamlet. With a combined population of over 920,000 Edmonton's Capital Region is the countryšs fifth largest metropolitan area. For a unique venue for your tour or retreat, or simply a spot to visit for the day, Albertašs Capital Region has something to appeal to everyone. Several surrounding communities boast major performance facilities including Festival Place in Sherwood Park, Arden Theatre in St. Albert and Horizon Stage in Spruce Grove. These venues often host musical performances, theatre events, dance and children's entertainment. Other communities offer unique facilities such as the Wardens' Art Centre & Tea Room in Fort Saskatchewan or the Multicultural Heritage Centre in Stony Plain.

Nature lovers have only a short drive to enjoy Canadašs first wildlife sanctuary, Elk Island National Park, or the Strathcona Wilderness Centre which offers the rustic charm of a fully equipped pine lodge with conference facilities, group accommodation and a full roster of outdoor recreation. Also nearby is the Cooking Lake-Blackfoot Recreation Area with over 150 km of trails. Be sure to check out the array of informative attractions in the area such as the Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Village, a unique living history museum which interprets Ukrainian history, and the Reynolds-Alberta Museum which houses hundreds of vintage automobiles, aircraft and agricultural implements. Southwest of Edmonton, The Devonian Botanic Garden is a popular attraction and event site with stunning displays of plant life. The peaceful Japanese Garden has a tearoom available for rent (smaller groups).
